Most warehouse injuries involve a forklift and a pedestrian — and most of those are preventable with better infrastructure, not better signs.
Separate, don't share
Painted walkways are a starting point, not a solution. Where forklifts and people share aisles, install physical guardrails wherever possible.
Design crossings deliberately
- Mark with high-visibility paint and floor signs
- Add mirrors at blind corners
- Install motion-activated warning lights at high-risk crossings
Protect break rooms and entries
Bollards at every break room entry and exit door prevent the worst-case scenario — a forklift entering a pedestrian space at speed.
Audit annually
Operations change, layouts shift, and new hazards appear. An annual safety walk catches what daily familiarity hides.
